After a long 24 hours travelling we finally arrived in Phuket, by this time we were both shattered and struggling to stay awake. The thought of another hour travelling to get to our resort was less than appealing. We both nodded off about a hundred times in the taxi which included a few bang on the heads thanks to the drivers skills.However we both woke up when we entered Phuket town, neither of us had ever seen/experienced anything quite like it! I think initially we were both taken back by the poverty, particularly how under-developed and poor the place looked. It Made Birmingham look sexy. It also amazed me how many Thai's could fit in the back of a pick-up truck ... pretty impressive!
After an eye opening taxi ride we finally arrived at our hotel (Katathani Beach Resort located on Kata Noi beach).
We were greeted upon arrival with some pink cocktail (which Marcus spilt at the desk) and a pretty flower bracelet (much to Marcus's delight!).
We were then shown to our room, however I'm sure the poor bell boy who carried our hippo cases wished he hadn't of offered. I guess that's why he waited around so long for a good tip!
Anyway ... the room certainly lived up to its 5* status.
